From Potential to Power: Inside Sabeel’s Talent Growth Journey
Our leadership team at Sabeel is an eclectic mix, and so is our approach to recruitment and training. We see talent through many lenses, shaped by our backgrounds in education, engineering, architecture, big tech, corporate strategy, and nonprofit leadership. Together, those experiences have helped us build a team defined by creativity, drive, and purpose, the same team that powers every one of Sabeel’s projects and Studios.
But let’s start at the beginning.
What were we trying to build with Sabeel?
Sabeel was born from our own experiences with displacement, conflict, and leading education programs in challenging contexts. We saw incredible talent all around us and asked: How can we make sure the world sees this too? And beyond that, how can we ensure the work is dignified, sustainable, and designed for growth?
That’s how Sabeel came to life.
Who fits into our big picture?
When we began shaping our talent strategy, we asked ourselves: What makes someone “Sabeel material”? We filled whiteboard after whiteboard trying to pin it down. The traits that kept surfacing were drive, flexibility, critical thinking, and curiosity.
We weren’t looking for polished resumes or perfect degrees. We were looking for potential, whether that potential had been explored yet or not. What mattered was that spark.
Practical assessments and training that certify readiness
Working with conflict-impacted populations meant the traditional recruitment playbook didn’t always apply. Many candidates coming to us have unconventional paths and we wanted to honor their experiences to find how they could shine, both with us and with clients. So our team built two pathways to certify that talent is truly Sabeel-ready: assessments and training programs.
Our paid assessments simulate real client work, where participants design a process or deliverable from scratch and present it to our team. Our paid training programs blend classroom learning with hands-on projects and collaboration, allowing us to see how talent performs in real-world conditions.
While our talent often comes with strong technical skills, from graphic design and software development to data analytics and illustration, we know there is always room to grow. Our trainings focus on strengthening soft skills such as communication, attention to detail, ethics, and critical thinking.
With resumes that rarely follow a single path, and with many individuals locked out of traditional academic or job markets, these assessments and trainings have become our way of certifying and upskilling incredible potential into professional readiness.
